A Centre for Care, A Season for Giving
In Tasmania’s quiet south-east, small acts of kindness often carry the greatest weight. On the Arthur Highway in Copping, a modest building hums with that spirit — shelves lined with groceries, volunteers offering a smile, and a shared belief that no one in their community should go without.
For more than a decade, Copping Community Care Centre has been a place of practical help and compassion — providing food relief and support to families from Sorell through to Eaglehawk Neck. Every week, volunteers give their time to make sure those doing it tough have what they need.
As Christmas approaches, that mission takes on new meaning. The Centre’s annual Christmas Appeal helps local families facing hardship enjoy a little warmth and dignity over the festive season — from hampers filled with food and essentials to small gifts that brighten a child’s morning.
Thanks to a $1,000 Cars for Good grant, the team can extend that generosity even further this year, reaching more families when it matters most.
“We’re really excited,” says volunteer Kirsty. “The thousand dollars you’ve so generously donated will go straight towards our Christmas appeal. It’ll help us support local families who are struggling this Christmas — and give them a chance to have a really lovely day. We’re so thankful.”
Because in communities like Copping, care doesn’t always come with headlines — it arrives in small, steady acts of good.
