Tōtara Hospice is a place families turn to during some of life’s most difficult moments, when care, comfort and understanding matter as much as medical support.

Across the region, Tōtara Hospice provides specialist palliative care and holistic support to people and families navigating end-of-life care, grief and uncertainty. Their work ensures no one has to face these moments alone, with compassion, dignity and humanity at the centre of everything they do.

This month, through Cars for Good, the easyauto123 North Harbour team proudly donated $1,000 to support Tōtara Hospice and their ongoing work across the community.

Supporting Care Beyond Treatment

Tōtara Hospice supports people across a wide region, from Manukau to Mercer. Their services extend well beyond medical care, offering emotional, spiritual and bereavement support to patients and their loved ones.

Nurses, carers and support staff work closely with families, helping them feel supported, understood and cared for during a time that can otherwise feel overwhelming and isolating. It is care delivered with humility, professionalism and deep respect for each individual journey.

“This donation will go so far to support the 520,000 people we serve across the region,” said Jodi Pretscherer, Fundraising Lead for Events and Appeals.

“But perhaps the greatest impact for all of us is knowing that such amazing people care. It is heartwarming and incredibly motivating.”

It is this wraparound approach that defines the hospice, caring not just for patients, but for families and communities as a whole.

Recognition, Support and What It Makes Possible

During the visit, the easyauto123 North Harbour team spent time with staff, learning more about the hospice environment and the care delivered every day.

Walking through the in-patient wing and peaceful gardens, one quiet comment captured the feeling of the space.

“This would be an amazing place to pass.”

It reflected the dignity, calm and humanity that define the hospice and the people who work there.

“Honestly, we did not expect this,” said Kath, General Manager of the in-patient wing.

“The enthusiasm and passion in the room was so refreshing.”

The $1,000 Cars for Good contribution will help Tōtara Hospice to:

  • support specialist palliative and end-of-life care
  • provide emotional, spiritual and bereavement support to families
  • maintain welcoming, calm and supportive care environments
  • continue delivering compassionate care across the region

These contributions may not always be visible, but they make a meaningful difference to families when it matters most.
